St. Paul’s AC News
by Eoin O’Neill PRO
St Pauls had a terrific outing at the Leinster Indoor Championships last weekend. Over the course of Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th there were some brilliant performances by our young athletes. At U-19, Jenny Higgins was 3rd in both the 800m & 1500m. At U-17, Shauna Nic Aogain repeated this feat, with 3rd in both 800m & 1500m. At U-18 level, Simon Mernagh had a fantastic weekend, claiming 1st in the High Jump, 2nd in the Triple Jump (including a Personal Best) & 3rd in the 60 m sprint. Jordan Broaders was desperately unlucky not to claim 1st place in the U-17 Long Jump, but claimed an excellent 2nd place. Emma Owens was in fine throwing form to claim a silver medal in the U-18 Shot Putt. Emma Mernagh had a great run in her first Leinster Championship in the 800m. Tara Connick was in fine form in both the Long Jump and sprints. Well done to all on a terrific weekend of action.
On Sunday 21st on February Ger Maloney was in fine form and had a good run in the All Ireland Masters Cross Country race in Roscommon.
The next committee meeting is on Wednesday 10th March in Kilrane Community Centre at 8.30pm.

Restoration
of old cemetery in Kilrane.
The restoration work at the old cemetery in Kilrane continues to make good progress. The Kilrane/Rosslare Harbour Environmental group would like to thank all the volunteers who have turned out over the past two weekends; your help is very much appreciated. The group meet every Saturday at 10.30 in Kilrane so if you feel that you would like to be part of the team please come along on Saturday and you will be made very welcome. Recent photographs of the project are on display in St. Ruan and St. Patrick churches.
Kilrane NS Parents Council
We had our Parents' Council Meeting on Monday and we discussed the following items:
Defibrillator: 'Kilrane National School recently purchased a defibrillator using the funds raised by the fit Dads who ran in the Wexford half marathon last April. The defibrillator will be placed in the school and available for the community to use should the need arise. A number of people are being trained in the use of this life saving machine. Anyone who wishes for more information about this defibrillator please contact the school'.
'do this in memory of me': This wonderful programme has restarted. In a fitting way the next celebration of the programme will take place at the Mass for the Last Supper to be celebrated on Holy Thursday.
'The children of second class in Kilrane National School will be celebrating their first confession on 23rd March. The Parents Council would like to invite all parents and children to come back to the school for teas/coffees and cakes after the ceremony is over. We look forward to this event and to seeing you there'
Thought for this week:'anybody can observe the Sabbath but surely making it holy and sacred can take the rest of the week!'
School enrolment
Parents intending to enrol their child in Kilrane NS in September 2010 are invited to call to the school for a registration form, or telephone us on 053 9133303. Completed forms should preferably be returned to the school before the Easter holiday.
