Tuskar Rock GC
The arrival of good golfing weather has resulted in a surge of new members joining the very active 9 Hole Course. A positive approach to the Club moving 'business location' to the St. Helen's Complex could be the reason for this membership interest. Now all changing, showering and parking facilities at St. Helen's Bay will be at the disposal of all Tuskar Rock members, as will the bar/food Clubhouse facilities. Coupled with this change in surroundings is the ability for Tuskar Rock Club members to enjoy more competition golf from now on through more weekend events and midweek competitions. So roll on the 19th March when the changeover takes effect.
St. Helen's Bay GC
Ladies Cttee
It was a great week-end for golf in St Helen's Bay this week-end with the playoffs for the winter league taking place on Saturday. Parkinson's Preachers great score of 97 qualified to play Furlong's Furies and Lynch's Lurchers great score of 94 qualified to play Bossy Breada's in the Semi-Finals next Sunday Feb 27th. Good luck to all teams.
A singles sweep was run in tandem with the winter league, Ruth Kennedy (18) brought in 24 pts and Jean O'Kennedy (20) hot on her heals brought in 22 pts.
Sundays play was delayed due to heavy frost but once this cleared the day improved and was extremely pleasant for golf, which showed in the excellent scores brought in by some of our ladies. Well done to Ruth Kennedy (18) on her excellent score of 31 pts over 12 holes with Leonie Furlong (16) in second place with a terrific score of 27pts. Also well done Eileen and Leonie for getting a 2 on the 3rd hole.

Readers Day
The annual Readers Day at Wexford Town Library in McCauley's Car park will take place this Sunday 28th February from 10.30am to 4.00pm.
We have 2 academics from UCD and the writer Mai Gallagher joining us for the day, giving us a great opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the writings from current Irish and American Fiction writers. Mai Gallagher will also give a short creative writing workshop in the afternoon. All three speakers will be looking at how writers today reflect on the main political, social and economic events of out time.
I expect it to be an interesting and thought provoking event that will give us plenty to think about and it will also give us a reading list to work from during the year. There is a fee of €30.00[mailto:Hazel.Percival@wexfordcoco.ie]
