Happenings in the Clubs St. Paul’s AC News
by Eoin O’Neill PRO
Sunday February 14th saw a number of the senior athletes in action in a couple of different events. In Kilmacow, Co Kilkenny, Ger Maloney put in a terrific performance to claim 19th position in the Leinster Cross Country 10 km. This race had a high calibre field from across the province and a top 20 finish is worthy of high praise. Well done Ger on a superb outing. In Enniscorthy, Derek Curran, Peter Connick & Eoin O'Neill all took part in the MySport 10 K road race. On a hilly course, all 3 put in fine performances finishing in commendable times for the first outing of the season. Well done to all for the efforts to date & keep up the training!

'It was a great weekend for golf in St. Helen's Bay Golf Club, Saturday was really lovely with beautiful spring weather albeit a little chilly. There was a great turnout by all to take part in the final round of the winter league. In tandem with the winter league a singles sweep was also run with Leonie Furlong (16) playing some excellent golf to win on 26 points. On Sunday again Leonie was in flying form, never giving up on the challenge, and winning with 25 points. Leonie played lovely golf with 2 pars and 1 birdie during the course of the 12 hole singles sweep. In second place came Martina Noonan (28) on 24 points. All players enjoyed playing on the front 9 which is in great condition.'
Results: 12 hole sweep

Ballycogley Players Drama
A reminder that The Ballycogley Players will perform "Eclipsed" by Patricia Burke Brogan next Thurs 25th & Fri 26th Feb at 8pm nightly in Wexford Arts Centre. Set in 1963 in a convent laundry for penitent women. The author a former nun, worked in an institutional laundry when she was a novice. Eclipsed was inspired by the practice - which started in the time of the Famine, and lasted well into the 1960s and even longer - of making pregnant and unwed Irish mothers work as 'penitents' in church-run laundries. Supervised by nuns who regarded these women as mindless vessels of evil, the women were treated as virtual slaves and their infants were forcibly put up for adoption. Book your tickets for the performance by calling 053 9123764.
